Le Camping du Lac de la Liez is situated in the Haute-Marne, in southern Champagne. Discover this slightly hilly region lying at the gateway to the Burgundy, from where the Marne and the Seine rivers take their source. Nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts are in their element in the lush greenery of the Champagne, dotted with lakes and criss-crossed by canals, as are those wishing to delve into its fascinating history and architecture.

A well-preserved nature…

One of the principal attractions of the Haute-Marne is its natural environment. Situated close to major tourist hubs, but set apart from mass tourism, you will discover the Haute-Marne is amongst the most verdant departments in France, home to well-preserved soothing nature. You will be delighted to explore a region in which you are able to enjoy the true simple pleasures of life – listen to the belling of a stag, observe a Common Crane, admire the unique beauty of an orchid… Your senses are awakened; everything is pretence for quiet contemplation.

A region of history and tradition

The heritage of the Haute-Marne is particularly rich and varied; its cities and villages constantly send us back into another period of time. The regional architecture is particularly fascinating, inviting you on a discovery visit of numerous Cistercian abbeys or on the route of the area’s half-timbered churches. Military architecture is also very important to the image of the city of Langres and its impressive fortified wall, from which you may visit a series of forts dating back to the 19th century.

The history of the Haute-Marne may also be uncovered in its traditions. Two prime examples are the basket-weaving centre of Fayl-Billot and the cutlery works at Nogent.

Open Air Leisure

With its lakes devoted to the pleasure of water sport, sailing and swimming enthusiasts, as well as vast forests suitable for walking and mountain biking, the Haute-Marne is a popular destination for a vast selection of outdoor sports.

The Haute-Marne region is home to a dense network of cycling tracks, peacefully leading you on a discovery circuit along the Green Way through the stunning countryside surrounding Langres, or via the itinerary that follows the Peigney to Joinville canal.
