Langres and the Champagne – a region with a rich historical patrimony
The city of Langres is classed as one of the most beautiful cities in France!Erected on a limestone promontory overlooking the beautiful Champagne countryside and the Lac de la Liez, Langres shelters behind its stone defences a heritage brimming with historical significance. There are over 3 km of ramparts fortified with 12 towers and 7 gates leading around the city. In order to fully enjoy your fascinating stroll on the walkway above one of the ‘50 most beautiful cities in France’, the Tourism Office gladly supplies you with an audio guide – the Guide-Man®. Barely larger than a mobile phone, this handy unit accompanies you on your tour and provides explanations in English, Dutch and German of the various sites, as well as 40 works of art in the Museum of Art and History. In partnership with the Kawan Village Lac de la Liez, the Tourism Office of Langres proposes a special offer to its campers – until 15 June 2011 two Guide-Man® units for the price of one. The cost of renting the Guide-Man® includes entry to various monuments open to the public.
